往期回顾  Passage 5: Inmarsat system provides priority access to satellitecommunications channels in emergency situations. Each MES is capable ofinitiating a request message with distress priority. Any request message with adistress priority indication is automatically recognized at the LES and asatellite channel is instantly assigned. If all satellite channels happen to bebusy, one of them will be pre-empted and allocated the MES which initiated adistress priority call. The process of such calls is completely automatic anddoes not involve any human intervention. The LES personnel, however, arenotified of the reception and passing through a distress priority message byaudio/or visual alarm. To ensure the correct treatment of distress priority request, theNCS in each ocean region automatically monitors the processing of such calls byall other LESs in that region. In the event that any anomalies（异常） in processing are detected,the NCS will take appropriate action for the establishment of the end to endconnection.
