Poem 8,“A Night of Spring River and Flower Moon” This pleasant garden, Full of flowers, plants, and fruits, Gives us a picture of Heaven; That pond of silver Is crystalline Heaven; The wheels of that sluice, which is an artful Passage of water, Are prima mobilia; The roses are morning stars Of the beautiful firmament; The other fine flowers, The numerous host of stars. Alone I sit, facing the moon, my heart is full of longing. I cannot see my old friends, this makes me sad. Tonight, men of past and present agree, is to be prized, Especially here in the Pine River Pavilion. How lovely: Nature is in tune with human feelings,4 After ten days of clouds and rain, clarity tonight. This moon is honored not just by men, Heaven, too, feels strongly about mid-autumn. 8 The endless sky is without blemish, revealing everything, inside and out. In a gradual sweep, the rising moon's cold splendor glides along . The river is smooth for thousands of acres, a true jade-green; Above and below, clear and bright, a pair of jade disks float 12 It seems as if my very heartbeat were visible; Fish and dragons worry about having no place to hide. I don't feel that my body is on earth, I'm only afraid if I go on a raft I’ll meet the Dipper and the Herd Boy. 16 The scene is pure, the view superb, but something is lacking : Alas ! I have no companion to share all this. My heart and soul grow cold and hot-at dawn I still can't sleep. With an effort I write this to send to the capital. 20 (文章来自公众号“中山大学博雅学院”,校编:王嘉雯) |
