1. “subordinate to”在句子里的意思是“次于……的，不如……的”。看到这个短语，我不禁搓了搓手，哈哈，简简单单的一个表达却有三个不同的意义，真真的是狡兔三窟。来，我们一起看看另外两个吧。

be subordinate to：隶属于……的，是……下级的（subordinate作形容词）
The head of the agency is subordinate to the general manager of its parent firm.
这个机构的一把手是母公司总经理的下级。

subordinate to：轻看，把……置于次要地位（subordinate作动词）
She didn't want her son to subordinate his dream to that of her husband's.
她不想让儿子的梦想让位于丈夫的梦想。

2. “subordinate to”的近义词是“inferior to”，意思是“次于……的”，相应地，反义词是“superior to”，意思是“优于……的”。
