《灰姑娘》Cinderella从前，有一位长得很漂亮的女孩，她有两位心地不好的继姐。她经常受到两位姐姐的欺负，被逼着去做粗重的工作，经常弄得全身满是灰尘，因此被戏称为“灰姑娘”。后来，她在仙女教母的帮助下参加了王子的晚宴，王子一看到她便被她迷住了，立即邀她共舞。午夜离开时，她在仓皇间留下了一只水晶鞋。王子很伤心，于是派大臣至全国探访，终于找出能穿上这只水晶鞋的女孩。王子很开心，便向灰姑娘求婚，灰姑娘也答应了，两人从此过着幸福快乐的日子。 Cinderella glanced down at her old, tattered dress and her wooden shoes. “One more touch of my magic wand, my dear,” said her fairy godmother. Then there happened the most wonderful magic of all.
辛德瑞拉低头看了看她破旧不堪的裙子和那双木鞋。“再用我的法杖碰一下，亲爱的。”仙女教母说着，使用了最令人难以置信的魔法。
Cinderella found herself in a beautiful ball-gown of pale pink silk. On her feet were dainty pink slippers. Cinderella’s face was shining with joy. “Oh! Thank you!” she cried.
辛德瑞拉穿上了漂亮的舞会长裙，是粉色丝绸做的；她的脚上穿着精美的粉色舞鞋。辛德瑞拉的脸上闪烁着愉悦。“噢谢谢你！”
“Enjoy yourself at the ball, my dear,” said her fairy godmother. “But remember, you must be home before the clock strikes midnight. For, on the last stroke of twelve, all will be as it was before and yourself the ragged girl you were.”

When Cinderella arrived at the palace, she looked so beautiful that her sisters did not know her.

The prince thought that he had never seen such a beautiful princess. He took her hand and danced with her all evening. He never let her out of his sight.

Cinderella had never spent such a wonderful evening in her whole life. Yet she still remembered her fairy godmother’s warning.
辛德瑞拉这辈子从来没有享受过这么美妙的夜晚，但她依然记得仙女教母的警告。 At a quarter to twelve, Cinderella left the ballroom while the other guests were still dancing. Her carriage was waiting for her and she was driven quickly home. She arrived at the door just as the clock was striking twelve.
十一点四十五分，其他来宾还在跳舞，辛德瑞拉就离开了舞厅。她的马车等着她，她们迅速驾车回家。钟声敲响十二点时，她刚好到家门口。
On the last stroke of midnight, the coach became a pumpkin, the horses became mice, the coachman a rat, and the footmen lizards. Cinderella’s ball-gown vanished and she found herself once more in her old grey dress and wooden shoes.

When her stepsisters returned home they could talk about nothing but the beautiful princess at the ball. Cinderella listened but said nothing.
她的姐姐们回家后不停地讨论着舞会上的美丽公主，辛德瑞拉听到了但什么也没说。 On the second evening, the stepsisters went off to the ball, leaving Cinderella sitting by the fire.

No sooner had they gone than Cinderella’s fairy godmother appeared again. Just as before, her magic wand produced the golden carriage with its coachman and footmen.
她们离开不久，辛德瑞拉的仙女教母就出现了。和上次一样，她用法杖变出了金色马车还有车夫和侍者。
This time Cinderella’s ball-gown was even more beautiful than on the first evening. It was made of pale blue satin, with floating overskirts of pale blue net, embroidered with silver thread. Her pale blue slippers were embroidered in silver.
这次辛德瑞拉的礼服比第一晚更漂亮。它是用淡蓝色的缎子做的，蓬起的裙摆上点缀着淡蓝色的网，绣着银色的纹路。她淡蓝色的舞鞋上点缀着银色。 Once more, Cinderella’s fairy godmother reminded her to be home by midnight.

When Cinderella arrived at the ball in her blue dress, everyone was astonished at her beauty. The prince had waited for her and he instantly took her by the hand. As before, he danced with no one but her.
当辛德瑞拉身着蓝色长裙出现在舞会现场时，所有人都惊讶于她的美丽。王子已经在等她了，他立刻牵起辛德瑞拉的手，像上次一样跳起舞来。
Cinderella was so happy that she almost forgot what her fairy godmother had told her. Suddenly, it was five minutes to twelve. She left the prince and hurried out of the ballroom as quickly as she could.
辛德瑞拉是那么高兴，她差点忘了仙女教母告诉她的话。很快离午夜就只差五分钟了，她甩开王子急急忙忙地冲出了舞厅。 Cinderella’s carriage was waiting. But they were only halfway home when the clock began to strike twelve.

On the last stroke of midnight, Cinderella found herself in her old grey dress and wooden shoes in the middle of a dark, lonely road.

She had to run the rest of the way home, as fast as she could. Even so, she had just seated herself on her stool by the cinders, when her sisters returned from the ball.

Once more, all the stepsisters could talk about was the beautiful stranger with whom the prince had danced.
