The singers, from many different countries and wearing their national costumes, sang songs on the theme of 'One World, One UN'.
穿着不同民族的服饰，这些来自不同国家的歌手们引吭高歌，唱出了共同的心声：“同一个世界，同一个联合国”。
Mr. Mi Pengfei, vice president of the choir, told China.org.cn that the singers are all employees or former employees from UN Headquarters in New York. Their jobs range from editors, translators, librarians, tour guides, security officers, messengers, chauffeurs, accountants, photographers to top-level managers. The choir was founded in 1947 by staff members who wanted to get together to share music from each others' countries.
合唱团副主席宓鹏飞先生在接受中国网采访时称，这些歌手都是联合国纽约总部的雇员或卸任人员，他们当中有编辑、翻译、图书管理员、导游、保安人员、信息员、司机、会计、摄影师及高层经理。合唱团于1947年成立，那时候，联合国的有些工作人员渴望共享彼此国家的音乐，于是走到了一起。
Guillermo Vaisman, the conductor and musical director, is a famous Argentine musician. Over the past 20 years, he has conducted more than 400 concerts in Argentina, Italy, Switzerland, Uruguay and the United States. He joined the United Nations Singers in June 2004. Vaisman said the choir performed at Peking University and Beijing Foreign Studies University last week and would head back to the US this week.
音乐指挥及指导奎勒莫·魏斯曼是阿根廷一位知名的音乐家。过去的20年里，他在阿根廷、意大利、瑞士、乌拉圭和美国指挥了400余场音乐会。他于2004年6月加入“联合国合唱团”。据魏斯曼介绍，合唱团上周已在北京大学和北京外国语大学演出，这周他们将去美国。
For most members of the choir, this was their first trip to China and many of them said they were impressed by how modern Shanghai is.
