In the light of the moon, a little egg lay on a leaf.

在月光下，一枚小小的虫卵躺在一片树叶上。

One Sunday morning, the warm sun came out.

一个星期天的早晨，暖洋洋的太阳出来了。

And 'POP!' out of the egg came a tiny and very hungry caterpillar.

只听“砰”的一声，一只又小又饿的毛毛虫从虫卵里爬了出来。

He started to look for food.

他开始四处找吃的。

On Monday, he ate through one apple, but he was still hungry.

星期一，他啃穿了一个苹果，但他还是很饿。

On Tuesday, he ate through two pears, but he was still hungry.

星期二，他啃穿了两个梨子，但他还是很饿。

On Wednesday, he ate through three plums, but he was still hungry.

星期三，他啃穿了三个李子，但他还是很饿。

On Thursday, he ate through four strawberries, but he was still hungry.

星期四，他啃穿了四个草莓，但他还是很饿。

On Friday, he ate through five oranges, but he was still hungry.

星期五，他啃穿了五个桔子，但他还是很饿。

On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone,

星期六，他啃穿了一块巧克力蛋糕、一个冰激凌甜筒、

one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami,

一个酸黄瓜、一块瑞士奶酪、一片意大利香肠、

one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage,

一根棒棒糖、一块樱桃派、一根腊肠、

one cupcake and one slice of watermelon.

一个纸杯蛋糕和一片西瓜。

That night, he had a stomachache.

于是，那个晚上，他就肚子疼了。

The next day was Sunday again.

第二天又是星期天。

The caterpillar ate through one nice green leaf, and after that, he felt much better.

毛毛虫咬穿了一片鲜嫩的绿叶，然后他就感觉好多了。

Now he wasn't hungry any more, and he wasn't a little caterpillar any more.

现在他一点儿也不饿了，而且他也不再是那只小小的毛毛虫了。

He was a big, fat caterpillar.

他变成了一只又大又肥的毛毛虫。

He built a small house called a cocoon, around himself.

他建了一个叫做茧的小房子，将自己包裹在里面。

He stayed inside for more than two weeks.

他在里面待了两个多星期。

Then he nibbled a hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out

然后，他从茧里面咬了一个洞，钻了出来...

and ... he was a beautiful butterfly.

这时候，他变成了一只美丽的蝴蝶。
