(Indirect question)。“Where does she work?” 如果你这么说话: “If it’s not too much to ask, I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind telling me where she works? I would be extremely grateful.” Of course, she works in a bank, you know. Of course, as you know, she works in a bank. Of course, as you’re aware, she works in a bank. As I’m sure you know, she works in a bank. Of course, As I am sure you know, she works in a bank. 6. 比如,一个人对你说:“The capital city of the U.S. is New York”。 I think the capital of the U.S. is actually Washington. (委婉指出对方的错误) I am sorry, but I think that the capital city of the U.S. might be Washington, not New York. (先抱歉,然后委婉纠正) New York? Did you say the capital city of the U.S. is New York? (给人机会纠正自己的错误) New York? I thought the capital city of the U.S. was Washington. I don’t want to disaagree, but I think … I don’t want to complain but I think … I don’t want to be difficult but think … I hope you don’t mind my saying so, but … I am sorry, but … I am afraid that …. I’d like to agree with you but … I am not sure that is the best idea … Perhaps, it would be better to … It’s your choice but … I may be wrong but …
