量词的使用

用there is 和 there are来谈论某物的数量。

there is的单数形式常常缩写成：

There's a book on my desk. 

我的桌上有一本书。

There are 13 apples in my bag. 

我的包里有13个苹果。

 

a lot of、some 和 a few 用于表达数量。三到四个用 a few，数量超过一个用 some，但不用于大的数量。表达大的数量用 a lot of。

 

There are a few books on my desk. 

我的桌上有几本书。

 

There are some computers in the office. 

办公室里有一些电脑。

 

There are a lot of people in the zoo. 

动物园里有很多人。

表达日期

日期的表达有多种方法。

 

一般数字可以缩写。

例如：

first - 1st                                       

second - 2nd

third - 3rd             

fourteenth - 14th

twenty-first - 21st

在美国，人们通常先说月份，再说日。

日期一般用缩写形式：

比如，July 17 或 July 17th，而不是 July seventeenth。

  

July 2nd ： 7 月 2 日

February 10 ：2 月 10 日

October 21st ：10 月 21 日

 

在英国，人们表达日期时使用 the 和 of 强调日和月份。

 

the 31st of January ：1 月 31 日

the 12th of March ：3 月 12 日

the 7th of June ：6 月 7 日

表达具体某天和特定日期时，使用介词 on。

 

The meeting is on April 19th. 

会议在 4 月 19 日举行。
