对他人遭受不幸时表达怜悯、同情，带有一丝遗憾和可惜

What a pity! You should fail the exam for the third time! 

真可怜，三次考试都没及格！

It's a pity that he is in rags and gets wet through in the rain. 

他太可怜了，衣衫褴褛，全身还被雨淋，湿透了。

poor thing

可怜的家伙；poor后面可接任何人称代词：poor you/me/her...

Poor thing! Cheer up! You are cute now. 

太可怜了.振作点儿！你现在很好看啊。

Poor you! I don't think I can take it.

 pathetic！

有时候带有鄙夷的意味，对他人不敬，慎用
