咽喉疾病的辨证 
Differentiating red, swelling, pain and itch
辨红肿痛痒
一.
Red 红
The normal pharyngeal mucosa is pink(except that of the vocal fold).
正常的咽部粘膜是淡红色（除声带以外）
Abnormal colours are as follows：
异常的颜色如下：
1. Dark red 深红
It belongs to heat and mostly new diseases.
多属热证，且多为新病。

Whitish 淡白
It mostly belongs to Cold.
多属寒证
3.
Dark red and sordid red 暗红 污红
Both belong to prolonged diseases.
多为久病
4.
Dark purple 紫暗
It mostly belongs to blood stasis.
多属血瘀证
二.
Swelling 肿
1.
Parts swelling 局部（局限）肿胀
It belongs to sthenia syndrome.
多属实证
2.
Diffuse swelling 弥漫肿胀
It mostly belongs to asthenia syndrome.
多属虚症
三.
Pain 痛
1.
Severe pain 疼痛剧烈
It mostly belongs to sthenia syndrome and mostly acute.
多为实证，而且急发 
2.
Mild pain 疼痛绵绵
It mostly belongs to asthenia syndrome and mostly chronic.
多为虚症，且多慢性
四.
Itch 痒
1.
Shorter course of disease 病程较短
It is mostly due to pathogenic wind.
多因风邪引起
2.
Longer course of diseases 病程较长
It is mostly due to asthenic fire.
多因虚火引起
