Pattern for DROPS 188-37
INFORMATION FOR PATTERN:
GARTER STITCH (back and forth):
1 ridge = knit 2 rows.
PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 to A.5. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side.
----------------------------------------------------------
SHAWL:
Work piece back and forth on straight needles or circular needle. Work
sideways with increases in one side towards the middle, then decrease in
the same side so that the shawl get a triangular shape. Work entire
piece in garter stitch (= knit all rows).
Cast on 3 stitches on needle size 6 mm with 1 strand of each colour
Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work 1 ridge in GARTER STITCH - see explanation
above.
Then according to diagram A.1. When diagram has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 19 stitches on row.
Work A.2 over 3 stitches, insert a stitch marker on needle, work A.3
over the next 16 stitches. Stitch marker should be on the inside of A.3
through the entire piece to make it easier to see where A.3 begins and
where to increase in A.2. Continue to work A.2 and A.3, when it has been
worked up to rows marked with arrows, work 2 short rows ONLY over the
stitches in A.3 (= knit 1 row from wrong side and knit 1 row from right
side). NOTE! On last row in A.3 cast off 6 stitches at the edge in A.3
(as shown in diagram) before working over all stitches on row again.
There are 22 stitches on needle. REMEMBER THE KNITTING TENSION!
Knit until 3 stitches remain before stitch marker, work A.2 over 3
stitches, move stitch marker over to right needle and work A.3 over 16
stitches.
Work until A.3 has been worked 17 times in total vertically (= 17 tips
in the side), and there are 70 stitches on needle (54 stitches until
marker and 16 stitches in A.3).
Now work 3 repetitions of A.3 vertically WITHOUT increase.
Work as follows: Knit until stitch marker, move stitch marker over to
right needle and work A.3 over 16 stitches. Work until A.3 has been
worked like this 3 times vertically (20 times in total on the entire
shawl).
Knit until 6 stitches remain before stitch marker, work A.4 over 6
stitches, move stitch marker over to right needle and work A.3 over the
last 16 stitches.
When diagrams have been worked 1 time vertically, there are 67 stitches on row.
Work like this until 36 repetitions of A.3 have been worked in total (=
36 tips in the side), and there are 22 stitches on needle.
Work A.4 over 6 stitches, move stitch marker over to right needle and
work A.3 over 16 stitches. Work diagrams 1 time vertically, there are 19
stitches on needle (3 stitches until marker and 16 stitches in A.3). 37
repetitions of A.3 have been worked in total on shawl.
Work A.5 over all stitches. When diagram has been worked 1 time
vertically, 3 stitches remain on row. Knit 1 row and cast off by
knitting on next row. Cut the yarn and fasten.
