He told his boss that he was old and didn't want to do the craft of building wooden houses anymore. He knew that this would reduce his income, but he still decided to retire. 老板舍不得他的好工人走，问他看在多年的交情上是否愿意再帮忙盖“最后一栋房子”。老木匠答应了，但随着时间的流失, 很容易看得出来, 老木匠的心已经不在盖房子上面了：他用的是软料、次料，出的是粗活，所以手工非常粗糙，工艺做得更是马马虎虎。 The boss couldn't bear his good worker to leave and asked him if he was willing to help build the "last house" after years of friendship. The old carpenter agreed, but as time passed. 老木匠穷其毕生最后的精力，却将这“最后一栋房子”盖得这么坏，真是惭愧！其实，用这种方式来结束他的事业生涯，实在有点不妥！老木匠终于草草的地完成了“最后一栋房子”, 他请老板来验收。 The old carpenter was ashamed to have built this "last house" so badly, despite using his last energy in his life! Actually, ending his career in this way is a bit inappropriate! The old carpenter finally hastily completed the "last house" and asked the boss to inspect it. 老板来到房子前面, 见到老木匠, 手里递过一把钥匙给老木匠，拍拍老木匠的肩膀，诚恳地说：“这是你的房子，是我赠送你退休的礼品!” The boss came to the front of the house and saw the old carpenter. He handed him a key, patted the carpenter's shoulder, and sincerely said, "This is your house, I am giving you a retirement gift." 木匠惊呆了，他震惊得目瞪口呆，羞愧得无地自容。事到如今，返工已不可能，如果他早知道是在给自己建房子，他怎么会这样呢？他一定会用最好的材料、最高明的技术，然而现在呢，却建成了“豆腐渣工程”！可是一切已经来不及了，现在他得住在一幢粗制滥造的房子里！他只能自作自受。 The carpenter was stunned. He was stunned and speechless with shame. So far, rework is no longer possible. If he had known he was building a house for himself, how could he have done this? 老木匠这时痛心疾首，因为他一辈子的“英名”也就这样毁了，同时还要接受惩罚，让自己人生的最后阶段住在这个让他一辈子感到耻辱的地方。后来老木匠含着对自己的恨离开了人世，在离开人世之前在这座房子大门上装了一个大匾，上面写着：——“生活是自己创造的”。 The old carpenter was heartbroken at this moment, because his lifelong "reputation" had been destroyed, and he also had to accept punishment, allowing his final stage of life to live in this place that made him feel ashamed for the rest of his life. 这个故事虽简单平淡，但寓意深刻。我想它对于我们的职业生涯启蒙和探索都有着很强的启示——关于终始，关于态度，关于责任心，关于尊严，关于命运，关于生活。幸福是自己创造的，苦果也是自己酿造的。 This story although simple and plain, has a profound meaning. I think it has a strong inspiration for our career enlightenment and exploration - about the beginning, about attitude, about responsibility, about dignity, about fate, about life.
