千万不要把“The lion＇s share”翻译成“狮子那份”！

我们都知道，share做名词时有“份”的意思，不过短语The lion's share中并没有用到这个意思；它实际意思是“最大份额”，可不是指“狮子那份”，。

I get paid tomorrow, but the lion's share of my wages goes on paying bills!

我明天会收到工资，但是我工资的大部分用于支付账单！

to do your share of

上文提到，share有“份”的意思，这不在短语to do your share of就体现出来了。to do your share of指的是“做自己那份（工作或者其他）”

If you want a share of the pay, you'll have to do your share of the work. 

如果你想得到一份报酬，就得做好你该分担的那一份工作。

green around the gills

green around the gills指的是“脸色苍白”，当你听到别人这么说的时候，就说明你需要反思下自己的身体状态了。

The car almost hit Mary crossing the street and she was green around the gills because it came so close.

英语中但凡涉及到颜色的短语往往都很有意思，就比如这个Green with envy，我们知道envy除了“羡慕”还有“妒，忌”的意思。

To steal someone's thunder指的是“窃为己有”，千万不要翻译成“偷了别人的雷”。

To give someone a lift

你可能知道lift有“电梯”的意思，不过在短语To give someone a lift中，千万不要这么理解。To give someone a lift指的是“让他人心情愉快”。

Let's take some flowers when we go to visit grandma, to give her a lift.

我们去看奶奶的时候带些鲜花，让她的心情更加愉快。
