【原】“因为” 到底是用because, as, 还是用since?

英语写作中，我们经常会用到这三个词as、because、since。这三个词都可以用作连词，引导从句，用来连接事物的结果与导致该结果的原因。

Result (结果)	Reason（原因）
Kate decided to go to the conference in Beijing,	as she was in China anyway.
凯特决定去北京参加这次会议，因为反正她已经在中国了。
Are you angry with me	because I opened the letter?
就因为我打开这封信，你生我气了？
Tite coaches his team by telephone, (Tite was the coach of the Brazilian football team)	since half of them play in Italy, France or Spain.
泰特通过电话指导他的球队，因为他们中有一半在意大利、法国、还有西班牙踢球。

这三个词的中文翻译都是“因为”，那在实际写作中，我们应该如何选用这几个词呢？

那下面我们就来分享一下这三个词的区别和用法吧！

Because

这个词在写作和口语中都要比as和since常用。当使用because这个词的时候，我们主要是在关注原因（reason）。

例如：

We didn’t enjoy the day because the weather was so awful. 那天我们很不尽兴，因为天气实在太糟。

Many exam candidates lose marks simply because they do not read the questions properly. 许多应试者失分只是因为没有好好地读题。

有时，需要特别关注原因（reason）时，还可以把because-从句放到句首，此时就需要在这个从句后加逗号。

例句：

Because we're going away that weekend, we can't go to Julia's party.

因为那个周末我们要外出，所以不能参加朱莉娅的聚会。

在口语或非正式写作中，我们可以单独使用because-从句。

例句：

"Why did you do it?" "Because Carlos told me to".

“你为什么做这事？”“因为卡洛斯叫我去做的。”

需要注意的是，在正式写作中，我们不单独使用because-从句。

例如：

In 1998, the government introduced a new import tax because people were importing cars from abroad.

不能说：… a new import tax. Because people were importing cars from abroad.

As & Since

当想要更多关注的是结果而非原因时，常用as和since这两个词，且as和since这两个词要比because更正式。此外，还需要注意的一点，在含有since的句子里，我们通常会在主句之后，since之前加上逗号。

例如：

结果（result）	原因（reason）
We asked Philip to come with us	as he knew the road.
我们叫菲利浦一起去，因为他认识路。
They’re rather expensive,	Since they’re quite hard to find.
他们价格相当昂贵，因为他们特别稀有。

通常情况下，在句首使用as或since-从句时，需要在从句后加逗号。

例如：

Since we've got a few minutes to wait for the train, let's have a cup of coffee.

既然等火车还需要几分钟，我们去喝杯咖啡吧。

As it was getting late, I turned around to start for home. 天越来越晚，于是我掉头回家了。

另外，需要注意的是，在问句中提出原因，通常使用because，而不用as或since。

例如：

Are you feeling unwell because you ate too much? 你是不是吃得太多才感到不舒服的？

不能说：

Are you feeling unwell since you ate too much? Or …as you ate too much?
