By 1840 about 2000 europeans, mainly British, had come to settle in new zealand and the Maori signed an agreement with these settlers.However, in later years, there were Fierce arguments over land rights and many battles were fought between the settlers and the maori.As a result of these words and diseases,The Maori population fell from 100000 to 42000.Their population has no increased to 435000 and today they make up about 13 % of the population. New zealand is also home to about 170000 pacific islands from oceania who have settled mainly in auckland in North island.Both maori and pacific islands are encouraged to use their own languages.The language which the more we speak is related to the languages of Tahiti and hawaii.Today there are special kindergartens for more children and the movie language is now taught in more and more schools.You can also take a degree in maori or madrid studies at five of the country's universities. And there are now about 3000 deer farms in the country.The deal are farmed for the meat and full, which are then shipped to many other countries.Goats are also kept.Apart. from their milk, the wool from their coats is used in expensive clothing.New zealand wine is of high quality and is sold all over the world. Sports and Free time .Living in a country with plenty of space and a good climate,New zealanders love all kinds of sport.In summer people like to go sailing, swimming, house driving, and rock climbing in the mountains.The main school holidays are from mid December to early February when the days are long and warm.Many families spend this time at the cottage by the seaside or go camping in the hills or on the coast. Natural beauty. New zealand with its nature, beauty mountains, rivers and national parks, attracts the tourists from all over the world.North island is famous for an area of hot springs, some of which threw hot water high into the air.Some of this heat near the earth's surface is used to make electricity.
