英语语法：短语first and foremost, for certain的用法
 
副词短语在句中的功能相当于副词，通常在句中作定语、表语或者状语。
1. first and foremost首要，比什么都重要
用法：first and foremost通常置于句首，起强调作用，表示后面说的话很重要。类似的词组还有above all。
 例句：First and foremost, they will look into the problem of bribery in the company.
首先，他们会调查这个公司的受贿问题。
 结构分析：First and foremost是状语, they是主语， will look into是谓语动词（将来一般时）， the problem of bribery in the company是宾语，其中of bribery是后置定语，in the company是介词词组作后置定语，修饰the problem of bribery。
 2. for certain确定地，无疑地
用法：for certain一般用来修饰动词。类似的词组还有without doubt。

用法：for ever修饰名词，一般位于句中或者句末作状语，相当于forever。

 4. for free免费
用法：for free可以作状语修饰动词，表示某个行为是义务的、免费的。
 例句：She will do the job for free.
她会免费做这项工作。
