What's up是美语中一个非常常用的句子，有两个主要用法。一，表示询问别人有什么事；二，作为问候语，相当于how are you，表示询问对方的近况，有时也相当于Hi或者Hello.

A: We're going on an outdoor expedition next weekend. Would you like to join us?

下周末我们要去户外探险，你想加入吗？

expedition表示“（以探险为目的的）有组织的旅行”

B: It's a long-awaited activity. But I can't give you a clear answer, because I am not sure if I'm going to work overtime next weekend.

A: What do you mean?

你这句话指什么意思？

What do you mean表示“你什么意思”？在口语中因为语气的不同而有不同的含义。一，表示对对方的话会行为不理解；二，表示反问对方，对对方的话和行为生气。

B: Well, we got a big order. All the people are busy with this recently, so maybe we have to work overtime. 

是这样的，我们公司接了一个大的订单，最近所有的人员都在忙于此事，因此我们可能要加班。

A: Well, the job matters. When can you fix the time? We are counting the numbers.

好吧，工作重要，那你什么时候能确定呢？我们正在统计人数。

fix除了表示“修”，比如：fix the computer修电脑；还可以表示“确定（时间；日期；价格；政策等）”，fix a time表示“确定时间”。

B: Next Tuesday at the latest. How many of you are there now?

A: Six if you're in. We plan to invite ten persons in.
