a time 和 times 都可以表示“一段时间”，有何区别？

先来看 a time，牛津词典中这样解释：

a period of time, either long or short, during which you do sth or sth happens 

指“一段时间”，或长或短，在这段时间中，你做了某事或者某事发生了。

相当于 a period of time，简称为 a time，比如我们熟悉的 a long time ago，就是“很久以前”。另外：

His injuries will take a long time to heal. 

他的伤痛需要一段时间才能疗愈。

I lived in Paris for a time.

我在巴黎住过一阵子。

Time 不仅可以跟 a 搭配，还能跟 the 或者 one 搭配，比如：

At one time, Britain was the most powerful country in the world.

英国一度是世界上最厉害的国家。

For me, the early morning is the best time of day.

 对我而言，清晨是一天中最好的时间段。

从上述例子可以见，a time = a period of time，表示“一段时间”，可以说几个小时，也可以是几周、几月、几年、甚至数十年。

再来看 times。

牛津词典中这样标记：Uncountable（不可数），Plural（复数）。也就是 times 以复数形式出现，但不是复数概念，是个不可数的抽象名词。

定义：

a period of history connected with particular events or experiences in people's lives

注意“period of history”，历史中的一个时段，强调了 times 跟历史时代背景挂钩，通常有一种历史的宏大感，可以翻译为：时代、年代、世道。

比如：

古代：ancient times

乱世：the violent times

时世艰难：Times are hard.

时代改变了：Times have changed.

综上所述，a time 描述的范围小，指某个体（人或物）的一段时间；而 times描述的时间段有更宏大的背景，跟历史、时代相关。
