欧美告急！医学生提前毕业抗疫，线上入职宣誓感人至深

新冠肺炎疫情在全球持续蔓延，各国医疗系统不堪重负。据外媒报道，欧美医学院学生纷纷提前毕业，前往应对新冠疫情的医疗单位，参与抗击全球性卫生灾难。

提前毕业的医学生们在线上宣读了在希波克拉底誓言（Hippocratic oath）的基础上制定的《世界医学会日内瓦宣言》（WMA Declaration of Geneva）。

AS A MEMBER OF THE MEDICAL PROFESSION:

I SOLEMNLY PLEDGE to dedicate my life to the service of humanity;

告急！美国倡议学生提前毕业

让医学生提前加入一线抗疫的背后，是疫情的持续告急和医护人员的严重短缺。

据美媒报道，截至5月13日，美国已有近2000名医学生提前毕业，开始了自己的职业生涯。许多人放弃最后的选修课程，穿上防护服，加入了抗疫一线。

纽约是此次受疫情冲击最为严重的地区之一，早在3月底，纽约州州长科莫（Andrew Cuomo）就提出了让医学生提前毕业的倡议。

纽约大学于3月25日首先对此做出了回应：

Kate Malenczak, a spokesperson for NYU, confirmed for Medscape Medical News that the Grossman School of Medicine had agreed to permit early graduation. 

纽约大学发言人Kate Mallenczak向医景医学新闻证实，格罗斯曼医学院已同意让符合条件的医学生提前毕业。

一天后，同样位于纽约的爱因斯坦医学院（Albert Einstein College of Medicine）也作出了回应：

The fourth-year medical students at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine received an email inviting them to return to clinical duties. 

爱因斯坦医学院向四年级学生发邮件，请他们返回临床岗位。

纽约及美国其他地区的医学院也表示，将会考虑采取相似的措施，这在美国历史上是前所未有的（be unprecedented in American history）。

乔治华大学米尔肯学院公共卫生学院（George Washington University's Milken Institute School of Public Health）的Patricia Pittman教授认为，这是一个积极的举措（It's definitely a positive move）。

她表示：

If you have attrition in the workforce, you get into a vicious cycle where there is more fatigue and more attrition.

如果医护人员出现缺口，就会陷入一个恶性循环，那时医疗系统将更加不堪重负。

从医学院到抗疫一线

美国政府和学校的倡议得到了积极响应，许多医学生表示，愿意提前毕业并开始工作，也有学生说自己已经“等不及了”（itching to get back in）。

一位叫Gabrielle Mayer的学生就是他们中的一员。4月，她参加了线上毕业典礼并宣读了《希波克拉底誓言》。仅仅三天后，她就成为了纽约贝尔维尤医院的住院医师。

Dr. Gabrielle Mayer took her Hippocratic oath during a virtual graduation ceremony last month. Just three days later, she was a resident at Bellevue Hospital in New York City.

She says she's been inspired by 'seeing the medical community as a whole rally around the patients who needed us the most.'
