英语单词 rise 和 raise 都有“举起、抬高”的意思，在表达“抬高价格”“举起你的手”的时候到底应该如何选用呢？

raise /reɪz/ (raised,raised)

v.抬高，举起，升起，扬起

① 规则动词，过去式、过去分词动词词尾加 -d。

② 及物动词，后面可以直接加宾语。

• The stone is too heavy; I can‘’t raise it(宾).

         这块石头太沉了，我举不动它。

• The price for sugar(宾) was raised to four and forty cents a kilogram．

         食用糖的价格被提高到每千克4.40美元。

*raise还可以表示“提出(新论点、问题、异议)；种植；饲养；养家；抚育(儿女)”等.

rise /raɪz/ (rose,risen)

vi.升起，提高，起身

① 不规则动词，过去式、过去分词特殊形式。

② 不及物动词，后面不可以直接加宾语。

• The sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

         太阳从东方升起，西方落下。

• Price rise over time.

         价格一直在上涨。 

• New apartment buildings have risen in the river area．

         新的公寓楼出现在河滨地带。

*rise也可用于希望(hope)、怒气(anger)、士气(morale)、精神(spirits)、义愤(indignation)等。
