沙漠万花筒 - BEFORE WE GO双关语、俏皮话解析

Before we go, a desert kaleidoscope. That`s the theme for this year`s Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta 节日. It got off the ground over the weekend in New Mexico and runs through the week. More than 500 hot air balloons are taking part in one of the oldest forms of aviation. And, of course, that looks amazing in this time-lapse 延时的，快动作的 video.

There have been some crashes here and there. No serious injuries have been reported.

Of course, some people get an over-inflated sense of confidence. You can call them basket cases. But that kind of thing tends to balloon with each rise of each successful launch. You got to both know the ropes and let them go especially if you expect to get around the world in 80 days.

今天这段讲的是美国新墨西哥州阿尔伯克基城举办的国际热气球节的盛况：500个热气球不断起飞，纪念这种最古老的飞行航空方式，如同在沙漠上玩万花筒，极其壮观。

几个点：

inflated：充气的，这里指一些热气球飞行员的信心过于膨胀；

basket case：热气球飞行器一般是由上方的热气球和下方的载人筐（basket）两部分组成的，这里basket case本意是“像篮子那样漏水的容器/箱子（case）”，引申为“四肢不全的人、完全伤残者、完全没有希望的人”；

balloon：作为动词，这个词指的是“迅速升高”；

out of hot air：是out of air（喘不过来气）和hot air（热空气）的拼贴。
