The actress received her 21st Academy Award nomination, in the best actress category, for her performance as Katherine Graham in “The Post.” The nod extends Streep’s record by nine over Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson, who are tied in second place with a dozen each. Metro: Meryl Streep is so popular with the Academy it should be illegal. The 68-year-old’s remarkable ability to get nominated for an Oscar is beyond compare – and even her amazing three wins seem dwarfed by the sheer heft of her nods. Tonight she is up for Best Actress for her role in Steven Spielberg’s The Post, a movie which her fellow lead Tom Hanks failed to receive a nod for.
