清明 QINGMING 清明，是农历二十四节气中的第五个，该节气被看作清明节的源流之一。清明时，气清景明，万物皆显，此时气温升高，春景宜人。“燕子来时新社，梨花落后清明。”从这一天起，中国大部分地区都变得温暖，正是春耕的好时机。 On this day: Qingming, or Tomb-Sweeping Day, falls on April 4 this year. This solar term indicates the right time for cultivation and spring outing. Alike to the Day of the Dead, Qingming is also an occasion for the Chinese to pay respect to the deceased. 踏青乐  天清地明 春色明媚 清明时节 最宜踏青 Qingming, literally meaning “clear and bright,” heralds a season of rising temperature and reviving nature. On the three-day Qingming Festival, people will have spring outing with their family members or friends to embrace the brightly-colored scenery. 荡秋千  秋千纷飞 半空荡漾 绿柳风和 舒畅开心 Swinging is another popular activity during the Qingming Festival among children and adults. As the folk saying goes, the higher the swing rises, the happier life is thought to possess. 扫祖墓  游园祭扫 追思祭祖 缅怀先人 不忘奋进 The most important tradition of Qingming is to honor ancestors and commemorate deceased family members and relatives. A traditional memorial ritual includes praying, cleaning the tombstones and burning paper money to the deceased. Nowadays, people replace the burning practices with flower offering, which is more environmental friendly. 包青团  艾草清香 油绿如玉 绵软可口 甜糯宜人 Qingtuan, or green rice ball, is a traditional delicacy in the region south of the Yangtze River around the Qingming Festival.
