【原】【YOU英语每日一课】一个超级“可应用的”单词！

英语中有很多单词意思非常丰富，而大部分学过英语的人只是懂得其一两个意思，不能灵活地运用。今天我们来学习这样一个单词：

available

这是一个超级形容词，指物时常用的意思是：

可得到的；可买到的；；

1.   Further information is available on request.
    需知更多信息请垂询。

2.   Are these shoes available in my size?
    这种鞋有适合我的尺寸吗？

3.   The book is now available at many bookstores.
    这本书现在许多书店里都可以买到。

4.   Tickets are available free of charge online.
    网上可以得到免费的票。

还可以指：“可用的，用得上的”，一般指器具等可用、房间空着没人用等：

5.    Is Wi-Fi available in the room?
    房间有无线网络吗？

6.   You need to keep a fire extinguisher available at all times.
    任何时候都要放置即时可用的灭火器。

7.   There is no money available for this project.
    没有可用于这一项目的资金。

8.   Do you have any double rooms available this weekend?
    这周末还有双人房间吗？（订酒店常用句）

9.   If you're looking for somewhere to rent, there's an apartment available in my building.
    如果你要租房子，我那栋楼里有套公寓可以租。

可指工作空缺：

10. Do you have jobs available in your company?
    你们公司还有工作空缺吗？

11. Our company only has one or two positions available at the moment.
    我们公司目前还有一两个职位待招人。

形容人时，意思为：有空的free to see or talk to people

12. Is the manager available?
    经理有空吗？

13. Are you available tonight? I want to treat you to dinner.
    你今晚有空吗？我想请你吃饭。

14. I'm available after 3:00 if you need any help.
    如果你要人帮忙，我下午三点后有空。

15. The premier was not available for comment.
    总理无暇发表评论。

还可指人尚未结婚、也没有固定的约会对象：

16. Your friend is cute. Is he available?
    你朋友真可爱。他单身吗？
