新年就在眼前，这几天跟朋友之间的对话一定少不了新年的话题吧？今天我们来上一堂跟新年相关的对话课。

新年，new year，一般大写首字母：New Year。year的意思是“年”，接下来我们要学到的对话中有几个都是跟year有关的。看看你是否都懂呢？

来学习一个长对话：

To Ring in the New Year

A: So how are you going to ring in the New Year?

B: I’ll be spending it with my friend, Jack. I haven’t seen him since the year dot. So what about you?

A: I’m not sure. I think I’ll spend it with some of my friends. So are you going to make any New Year’s resolutions for next year?

B: Well, I’m going to turn over a new leaf and start living more healthily. Did you know that eating at least 5 pieces of fruit and vegetables and working out can take years off you? I’ve heard it can make you look at least ten years younger. Actually, I’ve been even thinking of joining a gym. Do you want to come along?

A: Not in a million years. I haven’t been to the gym in donkey’s years. I want to spend my twilight years enjoying life rather than in a gym. Anyway, weren’t you going to live a healthier life last year?

B: Yes, that’s true. I tried to go swimming once a week, but I couldn’t find a year-round swimming pool.

A: I don’t know why you make New Year’s resolutions. Year in, year out, you make the same resolutions, but you always break them within a few weeks.

B: But as they say, if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.

A：你准备怎样庆祝新年呢？

B：我准备和我的朋友杰克一起过。我很久没见过他了。你呢？

A：我还没定，我想可能和一些朋友一起过。你准备许下明年的新年决心吗？

B：嗯，我要翻开新的一页，要生活得更健康。你知道吗？每天吃最少5件水果蔬菜，再加上锻炼，能让你显得年轻得多。我听说最少能让你看上去年轻10年。事实上，我在考虑加入健身俱乐部。你要不要一起？

A：绝不考虑。我已经有年头没去过健身房了。我要把我剩下的岁月用来享受生活，而不是去健身房。话说回来，你去年不就想要过更健康的生活了吗？

B：是啊，那倒是真的。我试图想要每周去游一次泳，但我找不到一家全年都开的游泳池。

A：我都不知道你干嘛还要许什么新年决心。年复一年，你许下相同的决心，但是没过几周你就打破决心了。

B：但正如人们说的，如果开始时你没成功，再重新努力。
