人人都需要微笑，生活需要微笑，微笑能带给人好心情，微笑是会传染的。英文的微笑叫smile，今天我们来学习几个smile的成语表达，

如果要描述一个人要笑起来的动作，我们可以用这样的说法：

break a smile

露出微笑；微笑起来

或：

crack a smile

露出笑容；展颜微笑

Mom broke a smile for a second even though she was scolding me.

尽管妈妈在责备我，有那么一会儿她还是露出了笑容。

He barely cracked a smile at his friend’s joke.

他很少会对他朋友开的玩笑露出笑容。

It took me a long time, but I finally got her to crack a smile.

虽然花了很多时间，但我最后还是博得她一笑。

如果有人总是微笑，要不就是很开心，要不就是性情开朗乐观，这时候我们说：

be all smiles

非常开心；欣喜若狂

This little girl has a cheerful disposition
— she's all smiles all the time!

这个小姑娘性情很开朗，她总是非常开心。

He was really depressed about the business last week,
but he’s all smiles now.

他上周为了生意的事非常的灰心丧气，但现在他很快乐了。

微笑时嘴巴总是会向两边咧开，笑得很开心时，嘴巴咧开的幅度也更大，英文里说：

smile from ear to ear

笑得合不拢嘴

He was smiling from ear to ear
when he won the prize.

他获奖时笑得合不拢嘴。

The kids ran around the beach,
smiling from ear to ear.

孩子们在沙滩上跑来跑去，笑得合不拢嘴。

自己开心还不够，想让别人也开心，我们可以：

put a smile on someone’s face

让某人高兴起来

The surprise birthday party
really put a smile on her face.

惊喜生日派对让她很高兴。

I’m going to give my son a new toy car,
and I know that'll put a smile on his face.

我要给我儿子一个新的玩具车，我知道这一定会让他很高兴。

微笑应该是发自内心的，但有些时候有些人的笑却很不由衷，这种虚假的、勉强的微笑英文中叫作：

a plastic smile

虚假的微笑；不由衷的微笑

I hate that plastic smile of hers.

我讨厌她那虚假的微笑。

I could tell that he was wearing a plastic smile
and that something was bothering him.

我可以看得出来他笑得很勉强，有什么事在困扰着他。

最后说一下，smile作名词用时常用havea …smile或wear a … smile的搭配，所以可以说一个人wear a happy/ cheerful smile，也可以说wear a shy/ sad/ polite/ plastic smile。如果说某人wear nothing but a smile，猜猜会是什么意思呢？
