平时我们碰到什么新鲜事都会想要“尝试一下”，这个用英文表达最简单的就是“have a try”或“give it a try”，后者美国英语中用得更多。

今天我们来学习一个不一样的表达，也是非常地道、常用的：

give it a shot

这个短语的意思和用法都相当于“give it a try”，可以替换使用。这其实是“shot”的其中一个含义：“attempt（尝试）”，如果知道这一词义，对这个表达就很熟悉了。

Let's give it a shot and see what happens.

我们尝试一下，看看会发生什么事。

After some hesitation, I decided to give it a shot.

犹豫了一阵之后，我决定尝试一下。

It's a great opportunity.
You really should give it a shot.

这是个很好的机会，你真的应该试一下。

A: Maybe you want to try driving the car,
to see how you like it?

也许你想要试下开这辆车，看看你是否喜欢？

B: Yeah, sure, I'll give it a shot.

哦，当然，我要试一下。

I know the exam is really hard, but if I don't try,
I'll never know if I have what it takes to pass it,
so I've decided to give it a shot.
