这首歌来自他1983的同名专辑《Never Gonna Let You Go》中的一首。这首歌最初提交给地风火乐队的，但他们决定不录制它，不知道是不是因为编排的难度（哈哈）。1982年，Dionne Warwick和Stevie Woods分别为他们自己的专辑录制了这首歌。但其实没掀起什么大波浪。而1983年，Sergio Mendes唱完就不一样了。这首歌在4周内登顶公告牌成人当代排行榜，在公告牌100首热门歌曲中排名第四，在公告牌R&B单曲榜上排名28。成为他的热门单曲。关于将这首歌加入专辑中的想法，Sergio Mendes说“专辑中的其他歌曲都很欢乐。我需要在专辑中加入一首叙事抒情的歌曲，只是为了稍微改变一下氛围。”
