【原】顺其自然，用英语怎么表达？可以用 nature，也可以不用

忙碌里，谁都有难处，现实中，谁都有苦楚，人生，总有太多的纠结，让我们无助；总有太多的无奈，让我们无可奈何。所以，有些事，可以认真，但不要较真，心若轻松，路才顺当。

提到自然，自然而然就会想 nature，那我们顺水推舟可以用 let nature take its course 来表示顺其自然；它是一个祈使句，其中 let 是一个使役动词，对应的格式是：let sb/sth do sth，常见的否定式有 don't let sb/sth dosth 或 let sb/sth not do sth，例如：

别让她搅得你心烦。

Don't let her upset you.

Let her not upset you.

Let nature take its course，意为“顺其自然”等，这个跟它的本意很接近，因为在所有的使役动词中，let 是语气最“轻柔的”，所以这个习语跟我们的习性最吻合，例如：

Let nature take its course and your children will be stronger and better equipped to succeed.

顺其自然，你的孩子会更强壮，更有能力成功。

As a parent, sometimes you need to sit back and let nature take its course; if you try to stop your child from making any mistakes, it can be more damaging in the end.

作为父母，有时你需要放手去顺其自然；如果你试图阻止你的孩子犯任何错误，最终会造成更大的伤害。

我们还可以使用 let nature take its course 的缩减版 take its course 来表示顺其自然或任其发展，有时也可以用作 run its course，例如：

There is really no good medicine for this. This disease simply has to take its course.

这个病真没有什么良药，只能顺其自然。

When her tears had run their course, she felt calmer and more in control.

等她哭够了，她就比较镇静，比较克制了。

在英语中，take 是一个用法非常丰富的单词，其中 take its course 中的 take 是“采用，采取”的意思；take 还有“接受”的意思，我们还可以用 take it as it comes 来表示顺其自然，它是 as 引导的时间状语从句，字面意思是“当它来的时候接受它”，可不就是顺其自然或任其发展的意思吗？例如：

She takes life as it comes.

她对待生活的态度是顺其自然。

There's no way of knowing how many people will show up, so we'll just take it as it comes.

没有办法知道会有多少人出现，所以我们就顺其自然吧。

Drift 是漂流的意思，因为漂流所以随性，因此我们也还可以用 drift 来表示顺其自然，例如：

I didn't intend to be a teacher; I just drifted into it.

我并没想过当老师，只是顺其自然就当了。

He hasn't decided what to do yet; he's just drifting.

他还没决定做什么，只是顺其自然。

当然最“中国式”的表达方式，我觉得应该是 go with the flow，可以意为“随波逐流，顺其自然”，是最符合我们思维习惯的一个习语，例如：

I don't think we're able to change anything, so let's go with the flow.

我认为我们无法改变任何事情，所以让我们顺其自然吧。
