英语口语：英语“冬至”、“夏至”怎么表达？

冬至：winter solstice

夏至：summer solstice

1. 对于大多数学习英语的人来说，表达“冬至”或者“夏至”时，是依靠死记winter solstice和summer solstice这两个生词来完成自己的英语表达的：

It is winter/summer solstice today.

今天冬至/夏至。

但很多人的英语“尴尬”就是：临到使用winter/summer solstice时，你绝对“忘词”，没有人有如此强悍的记忆力，想说什么单词就能用上什么单词。

2.我们先来看看winter/summer solstice在英语分别表示什么意思：

Winter solstice：

Winter solstice marks the first day of winter,or the arrival of winter.It also marks the shortest day of the year and the longest night of the year.

Sumner solstice：

Summer solstice marks the first day of summer,or the arrival of summer.It also marks the longest day of the year and the shortest night of the year.

我们很多人宁可花大力气去死记winter solstice这个“很难记住”的生词，却很少注意去记： the first day of winter/summer,or the arrival of winter/summer.It also marks the shortest/longest day of the year and the longest/shortest night of the year这样可以形成我们的“英语口语”表达，同时又是“涨知识”的英语！

不看解释，观看字面winter/summer solstice(冬至/夏至)，我相信很多人除了懂得中文“冬至/夏至”外，不一定说的出longest/shortest day/night这样“涨知识”的东西。

有了这样的英语，就算与人交流时我们把solstice“忘了”(而且，我好肯定10个里面有8个左右会忘词的)，我们依然可以“换个说法”跟人交流“冬至/夏至”：

Well,we are celebrating a special day today.Sorry, I forget the word.But what I mean is it is the day that marks the beginning/arrival of winter/summer.And it is the longest day/night today.

你看，我们不需要用到solstice这个“难词”，我们可以让人知道，我们想说winter/summer solstice的意思。

这就是我们需要练就的“英语说话能力”，而不是“用那个词才能说英语”口语。
