今天看了一篇韩林涛老师的一篇文章，关于“刘海”的英文翻译，我仔细想了一下，脑子里竟然想不出任何一个词来形容刘海. 韩林涛老师是从当时最新上市的IphoneX最上面的“刘海”设计引申出来的. 当时iPhone X上面的黑色区域我们中国人习惯叫它“刘海”，这个大胆别致的设计最开始遭到了很多人的吐糟和热议. 到现在也就慢慢接受了.  那么这个iPhone X上面的“刘海”用英文怎么翻译呢？ 在当年iPhone X的发布会上，演讲人是这么描述的.  "tiny little area at the top of the display" 上面这段话是演讲人首次提到这块儿黑色的区域，称之为“屏幕上方的小区域”。  他紧接着又补充到，这个叫“TrueDepth camera system area”，官网上将“TrueDepth camera”译为“原深感摄像头”，所以这个地方也许叫“原深感摄像系统区域” 以上这两种翻译总感觉太冗长和复杂，所以韩老师查找了当时iPhone X的售后评论，当然都是英语母语者的评论. "There’s no headphone jack, which continues to suck on every phone that omits it, but that’s the price you pay for a bezel-less screen with a notch at the top." "And, of course, there’s the notch in the display — what Apple calls the “sensor housing.” It’s ugly, but it tends to fade away after a while in portrait mode." "I've been testing the iPhone X for a week, and basically every conversation I've had with someone about it started like this: "Wow, that looks really cool, but what about the notch?" Well, it's weird at first, but you eventually just stop noticing it." 看到以上的粗体我们不难发现，英语母语者都是用Notch这个词来表示iPhoneX上面的刘海. 但Notch本身这个词是“切口”“凹痕”的意思.  这样一看，Notch 是没有刘海的意思的，那刘海是英文翻译是什么呢？ 主要要有种说法：一种是Bangs（S不能少）；另一种是Fringes. 凑巧的是，刚刚我正在看一部美剧《初来乍到》. 就看到了里面的刘海是用Bangs这个词.  来自美剧《初来乍到》第五季  刘海的单词在一个场景中出现了2次，让我加深了对刘海的单词的理解和运用. 你学会了？ |
