[JULI]Sunday mornings are peaceful in our house. My dad lets himself sleep in. My mother lets herself not fix breakfast. If my brothers have been out lateplaying with their band you won't even know they're around till noon. But thisSunday, I woke up feeling weird. I had to do something to shake off the confused feelingsabout Bryce that were starting to creep back in.

[JULI]每到周日早晨 我家就充满祥和宁静。爸爸会睡到自然醒,妈妈懒得做早餐,如果我两个哥哥出去玩乐队,中午之前你都找不到他们在哪儿。但这个周天,我一觉醒来就觉得不自在。我必须摆脱自己对布莱斯的困惑,这种困惑越来越强烈了。

[JULI]In all the years, I'd never visited my UncleDaniel. I don't know why. It was always something my dad did alone. We didn'tsay much to each other on the drive toDevonhurst, but I didn't care. I just liked being with my dad. Somehow thesilence seemed to connect us in a way that wordsnever could.

[JULI]I'd often heard my father talk about how difficult life was for Daniel. But Inever really understood it until now.

[JULI]On the walk back, Daniel acted like nothing hadhappened.

[JULI]On the ride home, my dad told me that Uncle Daniel usedto live with him and Mom before we were born. But after a while, itbecame too difficult. When we got home, everything looked the same. But itwasn't. Before today, Daniel had always been just a name to me. Now he was partof the family.

[JULI]回家的路上爸爸告诉我丹尼尔叔叔在我们出生前跟他和妈妈一起住,但过了一段时间就不那么容易相处了。回到家中,一切看上去和平常一样,但实际上已经不是了。今天以前,丹尼尔对我来说只是一个名字,但现在,他是我们家庭的一份子了。

[JULI]I wasn't too thrilled about dinner with theLoskis but I could see it meant a lot to mymother. At school the next day, I couldn't seem to concentrate.My thoughts kept running back to Daniel. I wondered what my grandparents had gone through having a son like him when reality interrupted.

DANA:I'm sorry. I thought...

JULI:It's okay. It's fine.

JULI:没事,我很好。

[JULI]And it was. Because now my confusion was gone. I was sure I no longer likedBryce Loski.
