每年临近国庆的时候，临街商铺都会自发挂上国旗为祖国庆生，爱国氛围满满。国旗和国歌都是最神圣的代表，有人说国歌永远是那么好听。你知道“国歌”用英语该怎么说吗？

“国旗”的英语是“national flag”，那“国歌”能说“national song”吗？其实，“国歌”正确的英语表达是“national anthem”。

national anthem: a country's official song, played and/or sung on public occasions

“anthem”本身就有“国歌；（团体组织的）颂歌，赞歌”的意思，但是如果是指国歌，一般都会在前面加上“national”。

The national anthems of the teams are played at the beginning of international football matches.

这个表达并不是为了一首歌，而是说东西很便宜。

最后再来复习一下“我是中国人”用英语该怎么说。很多人的第一反应都可能是“I'm a Chinese”。这种表达老外虽然可以理解，但听起来却很别扭。正确的表达是“I'm Chinese”，在这里，“Chinese”是作为一个形容词而不是名词，所以不需要加“a”。同样地，其他国籍也一样，前面无需加冠词“a”或“an”。表示复数的时候后面也无需加“s”。

I'm Chinese. I'm proud of my country.

我是中国人，我为我的祖国感到自豪。

My wife is American.

我太太是美国人。

但是，什么情况下可以加“a”呢？当Chinese后面跟名词时，这个时候就需要加上“a”:
