Born 30 August 1950,is a British sculptor.His best known works include the Angel of the North, a public sculpture in Gateshead in the North of England, commissioned in 1994 and erected in February 1998, Another Place on Crosby Beach near Liverpool, and Event Horizon.

其艺术生涯中，葛姆雷一直以自己的躯体作为原型，并以此为出发点探索躯体与其寓居的空间之间的关系；在此期间他通过雕塑艺术形式创造了过去二十年来最富雄心壮志，最为人认可的部分作品，包括《土地》、《北方天使》以及最近为格林尼治千年穹创作的被过滤广告 《量子云》。

Gormley was the youngest of seven children born to a German mother and a father of Irish descent.His paternal grandfather was an Irish Catholic from Derry who settled in Walsall in Staffordshire.
