今天这篇非常简单，不过一些细节还是值得看看，中文的一些语气词，比如 还, 仅，还是不可或缺的。
添点佐料，毛姆在《月亮与六便士》的一句话:
By a lucky chance it excited attention, and various persons sought my acquaintance.(Somerset Maugham, The Moon and Sixpence, Chapter III)
由于偶然的因缘这本书引起了人们的注意，不少人想要同我结识。
注意这里的 excited，是不是比 get, bring, attach 等 更生动？

our people 我翻译的狭隘了。这是一篇演讲词，从语境上，自然是指两国人民。
demonstrate 我感觉用“展示”会不会比“显示”更好一点呢？
我的译文：美国和中国都展示了通过贸易提高本国人民生活的能力。
参考译文：美中两国都显示一种能提高两国人民生活的贸易能力。

“清楚”比“了解”更好。
我的译文：您比我更了解中国经济在过去 20 几年取得的伟大成就。
参考译文：你们比我更清楚中国经济在过去 20 年中所取得的伟大成就。

这里就是我说的中文语气词不可小觑了，“还”，“仅”，与后文就对比明显了。60% 我潜意识里是觉得 0.6%是太低了点，不自觉的乘以 10 了。。。这种低级错误不可有。
我的译文：1977 年，中国的进出口总额不到 250 亿，占世界贸易的 60%。
参考译文：在 1977 年，中国的进出口总额还不到 150 亿美元， 仅占世界贸易总额的 0.6%。
The most populous country in the world, China ranked a distant 30th among exporting nations.
人口众多 终于不用再用定语从句了，一个形容词搞定 populous
遥遥领先 far ahead
遥遥落后 rank a distant nth，就是排名靠后
我的译文：中国是世界人口最多的国家，在出口国中却排名靠后，位列 30 名。
参考译文：世界上人口最多的中国在出口国家中排名靠后，仅是第 30 位。
By 1993 China's exports and imports totaled nearly $200 billion.
终于和参考译文几乎一样了，结果漏了美元，重大错误。
我的译文：到 1933 年，中国的进出口总额接近 2000 亿。
参考译文：到 1933 年，中国的进出口总额接近 2000 亿美元。
China had become the world's tenth largest exporter.
我咋感觉参考译文很别扭啊，第十个最大的出口国，不就是第十大出口国吗？
我的译文：中国已经成为世界第十大出口国。
参考译文：它已经成为世界第十个最大的出口国。
