But minqiners persist in living here and making every effort to control the desertification and reserve the resources of water so as to prevent the two deserts from coming together. Once they come together, Hexi Corridor would be swallowed,which means cities like Wuwei, Zhangye,Jiuquan would be erased from the map. Minqin like a wedge is inserted between the two deserts, Badain Jaran Desert and Tengor. So you can image how important it is for the whole region.Minqiners are industrious, after which Minqin was named, and brave, and lead a hard life for that. Hard because they can't procure sufficient water resources and grow crops to make improvement in food and clothes. Although in such situation, they never give up the ideal to stop desertification. How admirable they are! They hold lofty ideal but they have the same right to pursue the Happiness and enjoy a better life! We have to realize that the less the population, the smaller the possibility of Minqin existence. Forcing Minqiners to leave the homeland for a better life would shorten the period of Minqin's existence.Fragile ecology and environment need more people to stop desertification.We should try to change our perspectives about desert and water resources, even perspectives about ways to control desertification. Planting sacsaoul is not the only way,even not the best way. |
