Dazzle of Ink Expressions

 中华文化中所蕴含的哲学亦是“阴阳”,“阴阳”二字贯穿着民族文化整个部分,其文化内涵培育出独有的美学思想,从而为中国绘画奠定了美学及笔墨形式,构建了中华绘画艺术之体系,完成了内美养于外美的绘画思考,使其民族绘画达到了艺术的高度。
The outstanding expression of philosophy in Chinese culture is about "Yin and Yang" in understanding the nature. It contributes greatly to the national culture and develops the unique aesthetic thoughts. Such dialectic philosophical ideas laid the foundation for the aesthetic and ink expressions and constructed the art system of Chinese painting. It generated and completed the thinking of the inner beauty from the outer and made the national painting an art peak.
“墨华之炫”四字,正是基于这样一种文化内涵所蕴育形成的中国水墨画之赞辞,它是发自我内心表达。
The four characters "Mo Hua Zhi Xuan 墨华之炫" (Dazzle of Ink Expressions) are a tribute to Chinese ink painting based on such a cultural connotation, which also comes from my heart. 
这里将此四字中三字作以阐述,便于理解颂水墨画之词。“墨”会意形声字,从土从黑,莫北切,古玺文中的墨字,上黑下土,表示墨汁是用黑灰制成的,《说文》中“墨”指写字绘画用的黑色颜料。
Here, it is expected to explain three of the four Chinese characters to better understand the poeticization of ink painting. In China, we call ink "Mo"(墨), which is a pictophonetic character, connecting the black with the earth. And in the ancient seals, the character black (黑)is above and the earth (土)below, indicating that the ink is made of black ash. In "the Interpretation of Words", "Mo" refers to the black pigment for writing and painting. 

“华”出现于西周时期,金文字形像花朵,本义指草木之花,花有灿烂光彩之美,因此,“华”有七彩之炫。形声兼会意字,户瓜切。“炫”燿燿也。光彩炫目之意,从火玄声,胡畎切。解三字之内涵述中国水墨画之大美。
And the second character “华”, in Chinese we call it "Hua", appeared in the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046B.C.-771B.C.). Its original meaning refers to the flowers of herbs, which indicates the beauty of splendid radiance. Thus its pictophonetic character "Hua" also means colorful dazzle. And dazzle in Chinese is called "Xuan", meaning brilliance dazzling. The interpretation of the three characters helps us better understand the great beauty of Chinese ink painting. 

我国绘事于黑白中探索发展,其表达的物象在哲学、文学、书法中呈现,作品虽然出现意象与工细之分,然而蕴含的美学、意境、笔墨亦是从人文中学来的,《云庐论画》载:“画之道,贯穿于阴阳之中,则可笔墨生发,变幻无穷,不失物象本来面目,超越化之,成就其事”。苏轼评唐人王维诗画云:“味摩诘之诗,诗中有画;观摩诘之画,画中有诗。”我们从苏轼这句评语中亦能感受到诗画本一律的妙境。
Chinese painting explores and develops in black and white, and the images it expresses are presented in philosophy, literature and calligraphy. Although the works are divided into free hand images and fine painting, the aesthetics, artistic conception and brushwork it contains are also learned from the humanities. It is said in On Painting "If the application of Yin and Yang goes freely through the painting, it can give birth to brush and ink with endless variations in expression. Therefore the works not only preserve its original nature, but transcend it to achieve its goals".Su Shi in Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127) commented on the poetry and painting by Wang Wei in Tang Dynasty (618-907) : "Read the poems by Mojie reflect pictures in mind; while his painting is appreciated you can taste a poem in it." We can also feel its amazing of the uniformity of poetry and painting from his comment.
而书法与绘画的关系,元人赵孟頫亦诗论,“石如飞白木如籀,写竹还于八法通。若也有人能会此,方知书画本来同”。阐述了绘画与书法之间的关系。中国绘画艺术孕育出的内美与外华,是文、史、哲等诸多学科积淀之大成,加之作者对大自然的认识与心性融合,转化成所要表达的笔墨形态,从而完成创作。
As far as the relationship between the calligraphy and painting is concerned, Zhao Mengfu in Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) ever said in his poem, "paint rocks with half-dry brushstrokes, paint trees with even brushes, while painting bamboo requires excellent knowledge of the eight methods in writing. If one is to appreciate this, he must know that calligraphy and painting are originally one and that the brushwork is essentially the same". The inner and outer beauties of Chinese painting art are the result of the accumulation of literature, history, philosophy and other disciplines, combined with the integration of the painter's understanding of nature and their minds, transforming them into the forms of ink so as to complete the creation.

了解中国水墨画,首先要了解中国人文思想,既哲学与绘画的关系,文学与绘画的关系,书法与绘画的关系,不然很难理解中国绘画的核心价值。因此,不了解中国人文学,就谈不上品鉴中国水墨画之内涵、精神、思想矣。

To appreciate Chinese ink painting, firstly we are required to understand Chinese humanistic thought, namely the relationship between philosophy and painting, literature and painting, calligraphy and painting, or it is difficult to grasp the core value of Chinese painting. Otherwise, it is impossible to appreciate the connotation, spirit and thought of Chinese ink painting.
纵观历代遗留之画迹,从中无不感受作者所呈现出的人文修养,笔墨、构图、画意、诗境等所赋予宇宙万物及作者二次生命的呈现,这些鲜活赋有生命温度的作品,赏之令人难以忘怀。
Throughout all the generations left, we can feel the humanistic cultivation presented by the painters and the representation of all things in the universe and the author's second life endowed by the brushwork, composition, painting, and poetry, etc.. It is unforgettable to enjoy these fresh and vital works. 

中国花鸟画,成熟于五代时期,徐熙,黄荃开创了野逸、富贵之面貌,一时两家作品交相辉映,奠定了中国花鸟画千年来总体之风格,其间名家辈出,至于明中晚白阳青藤的出现,“以意写形”将花鸟画创作推到了一个历史的高峰,把物像观照融于自己意识之中,将强烈的思想情感化为笔墨,尽情挥洒,达到逸态妙趣的笔墨化境,其思想精神文化内涵成为人们陶冶情操,热爱自然的依托。

Chinese painting of plants and animals matured in the Five Dynasties period(AD907-960), in which Xu Xi and Huang Quan created a freehand and noble look. Their works laid the overall style of this kind of painting for more than a thousand years. During that time, there were many famous artists. Especially the emergence of Xu Wei and Chen Chun in the late Ming Dynasty, their freehand style of "Intention in Shape" pushing the creation of Chinese painting of plants and animals to a historical peak. The ink and wash painting, which integrated the image of objects into their consciousness, allowed them freely turning strong thoughts and emotions into painting, achieving an elegant and exquisite realm, the ideological and spiritual cultural connotation of which became a sustenance for people's love of nature.

张继刚

1966年生,辽宁师范大学毕业,师从杨仁恺先生三十年。集目鉴、比较、分析、考订、心性学等综合学科,建立“书画鉴定与心性学”学理。古书画鉴定家,书画家、学者,涉猎文、史、哲、诗、词等,创建“云庐艺社”学术机构。出版专著多种,发表论文余篇,作品先后陕西历史博物馆、四川博物院、海南博物馆、三峡博物馆等国内外博物馆收藏,并应邀个展。
从上个世纪2000年起张继刚应邀参加国内外学术会议,著作《沐芦草堂丛稿》四川美术出版社出版,《砚池滴音》安徽美术出版社版,《词画研究》香港中文大学出版社出版,《西泠问话》西泠出版社出版,《书画鉴》《竹窗记》《止韴声》《眠鹤诗》《云歌词》由中华书局出版社版编辑出版中,《江晚清晖》人民大学出版社编辑出版中。2016成功的组织了中国古书画鉴定修复保护国际高峰论坛,创造性的将书画鉴定修复保护三个领域集中为一个论坛,开启了国际学术界之先河,推动由中国人民大学之主持邀请,国际间四十余家博物馆共同成立中国古书画鉴定修复与保护国际学术委员会。
中国人民大学文献书画保护与鉴定研究中心副主任、教授,中国古书画鉴定修复与保护国际学术委员会主任、云庐艺社社长,享受国务院专家津贴。
