Like 和 as

Reading：

The city of Dalian has become world famous. The streets are beautiful. The whole city is like a big garden. Walking in the city is like walking in a big garden. There are beautiful flowers and lawns everywhere. The people of Dalian are imaginative. They work like artists. They do something to make the evening of Dalian look tree lights. You can see many flower-like lights everywhere in the evening. When you walk along the ZhongShang Street in the evening, you will find the street lamps along the street are like the flowers of the Chinese scholartrees. It is like this every day. I like walking in the streets. I think people like me also like walking in the streets .

I．Like

1．注意介词 like 的两种意思。

A．用 like来比较人或事。 通常等于 'similar to’ 或 'in the same way as’

The whole city is like a big garden. (The city isn’t a garden.)

Walking in the city is like walking in a big garden.

They work like artists.

You will find the street lamps along the street are like the flowers of the Chinese scholartrees.

B． Like也可以用作'for example’

They make the evening ofDalianlook like a garden too, like creating the Chinese scholartree lights.

2 Like 是一个介词。通常用与名词，代词，或动词的–ing 形式之前。

The whole city is like a big garden. (like + 名词)

People like me (like + 代词)

It is like this every day. (like +指示代词 )

Walking in the city is like walking in a big garden. (like + 动词-ing形式 )

3.注意Like作为动词时的不同意思：“喜欢”：

I like walking in the street in the evening.

I think people like me also like walking in the streets in the evening.

II. As

Jane, a friend of me came from England to Dalian. I Showed her around the city. On the way Jane said again and again “Beautiful! So beautiful, Just as I expected. Oh, more beautiful than I expected! I feel as if I were walking in the streets of some European country. But Dalian looks new and tidy.” We came to Zhongshang Square. It was evening. There were many people there dancing, playing, doing some kind of exercises, playing Taiji, etc. I found she was interested in Taiji, and said to her,  “Come on, do as I do, and do as I say. Let’s do it together.” “Thank you very much. You act as if you’re my elder sister. Well, the Chinese people are making great progress, like my teacher Sue said.”
