If someone or something lands you with a difficult situation, they cause you to have to deal with the difficulties involved.  使遭遇（困境）

The other options simply complicate the situation and could land him with more expense.

其他办法只会使情况复杂化，而且可能给他带来更大花销。

As usual, I got landed with all the boring jobs.
