Dale Carnegie's name is famous all over the world. But ,in fact He did not write such a book as The significance of Names.

It's just that he realized the special function of name, so that 'name' became a booster on his road to success.

As a child, he caught a nest of rabbits, However, he had nothing to feed them, he came up with a brilliant idea.

He said to the children around him, 'If any of you can get something to eat for the rabbits, I will name the little rabbits after you.’

This method was so brilliant that Carnegie kept it in mind. Later, when Carnegie competed with George Poolman for the sleeping car business, he recalled the story again and once again played the magical function of name.

At that time, Carnegie's company was competing with Poolman's company for the sleeping car business of the United Pacific Railroad.

The two sides did not give in to each other, and fierce price competition was launched, making the sleeping car business unprofitable. Later, both Carnegie and Poolman went to New York to visit the board of directors of the Union Pacific Railroad.

one night they met at the hotel, and Carnegie said: Good night, Mr. Pulmen, let's not fight, won't we embarrass ourselves if we continue to fight?

'How do you say this?' Poolmen asked.”

So Carnegie told Poolman about his decision—the two companies could merged.

He talked about the benefits of merging the two companies, and Poolmen listened carefully, but did not fully accept it. Finally, he asked, 'What is the name of this new company?'

So Carnegie said without hesitation: 'Of course it is called the 'Poolmen Palace Sleeping Car Company'.'

Poole's eyes lit up, and he immediately said, 'Please come to my room and we will have a discussion.'

This discussion opened a new page in industrial history.
