8部英文电影，看尽人生起落

谢谢小伙伴们参与上次推送中“关于学习内容”的问卷调查，V老师看到排名最高的选项是依次是“口语技巧、听力技巧”和“语音语调”，都属于语言输出呀~那么，咱们今天就从语言输出开始聊吧~

总有小伙伴问：老师推荐几部美剧给我练练口语吧~ 每次我都挺为难，不是因为没有可选的剧目，而是因为，看美剧和提高口语之间其实没有因果关系。

这是不是个残忍的真相。。。

如果要把这个残忍程度降低，可以这么说：看美剧会促进英语口语和听力的提高，但有必要条件：第一遍看懂，第二遍听懂，第三遍消字幕理解率到90%，第四遍跟着说，第五遍写观后感。请问，你曾经做到过吗？

所以，我们看美剧到底是为了提高英语，还是为了杀掉寂寞？

或者是，以学习英语为目的的杀掉寂寞？

好扎心~

要不，放开英语，咱们先试试看懂人生吧，毕竟成长是门必修课，总有优秀的影视作品可以用来当教科书。

V老师今天想推荐给大家的，是八部让我念念不忘的英文电影，其中几部虽然时间久远，但即使是今天回头再看，依旧戳心。

那么，V老师就尽量在不剧透的前提下完成推荐，然后你就可以伴着空调WiFi西瓜，看电影啦~

美食与爱不可辜负

美食与爱的主题，总是甜而温暖的，在你低落失意的时候，看这种电影一定不会错，因为看完之后你就会饿，大吃一顿之后的心情该有多好！！

推荐影片1：“Julie and Julia” released in 2009

Starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep

这部电影在IMDb上被标签为“吃货电影”，其中关于美食制作与婚姻关系的演绎真实、浪漫；当法式美食遇到美国姑娘，当传统与现代碰撞时，会发生什么？V老师不作spoiler（剧透的人），只留下这个简单的句子，详细的情境你一定要自己体会~

Julia Child's story of her start in the cooking profession is intertwined with blogger Julie Powell's 2002 challenge to cook all the recipes in Child's first book.

intertwine: 缠结在一起，常用于被动语态be intertwined；影片中名字这么相似的两个女人的人生到底如何“缠结在一起”？等你去一探究竟~

V老师喜欢的台词：

You are the butter to my bread, you are the breath to my life.

上面这个示爱金句，你一定要记下来！

而下面这句的动人之处在于修辞，用来形容患难见真情的友谊最为地道！

I was drowning and she pulled me out of the ocean.

推荐影片2："Chocolat" released in 2000

Starring Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp

看标题就知道这部剧一定和巧克力有关，标题“chocolat”是个法语词，而整个影片的故事背景也是在一个法国小镇；在电影里你能看到气质女演员朱丽叶比诺什，和颜值巅峰期的Johnny Depp.虽然画质无法和现在的高清大片相比，但故事中极赋神秘色彩的传说，和演员们传神的演绎足以赢回好感~

A woman and her daughter open a chocolate shop in a small French village that shakes up the rigid morality of the community. The single mother and her six-year-old daughter are met with some skepticism in the beginning, but as soon as they coax the townspeople into enjoying their delicious products, they are warmly welcomed.

skepticism: 怀疑；

coax：哄劝，常用于结构coax sb into doing~

从上面这两个词就隐约能感受到电影的矛盾冲突，而影片中关于“融入”和“被认同”的探讨借着巧克力和传说的外衣慢慢渗透，当然，爱情也在其中。

V老师喜欢这段关于小镇描述的台词:

In this village, if you saw something you weren't supposed to see, you learned to look the other way. If perchance your hopes had been disappointed, you learned never to ask for more. 在看完上面两部和吃有关的电影之后，咱们来聊聊爱情和亲情

推荐影片3：Flipped released in 2010

这部电影的中文译名是“怦然心动”

50年代的美国，2家门对门住着的邻居，一直是同学的男女主，你猜这是什么故事？

Two eighth-graders start to have feelings for each other despite being total opposites.

这个 “being total opposites”很有火药味儿哦！而电影有趣的地方在于这个"opposites"的表现形式：每个关键点都分男女主角两个人的视角进行了演绎，真是不得不服，他们果真是对儿冤家!

如果你认为这就是一部青梅竹马的爱情电影，那就错咯~伴随男女主角长大的还有两个截然不同的家庭；而那些来自于原生家庭的情绪，都能在餐桌前找到~

V老师喜欢这段关于绘画的台词：

推荐影片4：Gifted released in 2017

这是一部讲述天才少女的影片，但重点并不在“天才”而是在天才的家庭

Frank, a single man raising his child prodigy niece Mary, is drawn into a custody battle with his mother.

先来做个同义替换吧：prodigy=gifted child 也就是，天才儿童

custody battle: 监护权之争，这也算是美剧里一个频繁出现的主题了

我们爱一个人，到底是爱ta,还是爱ta的才华，如果这个人还是家人呢？你希望ta出人头地，还是幸福平安？

烧脑佳作

下面这两部电影，我把它们归类在“烧脑佳作”里，这种题材是V老师最喜欢的，丝丝入扣又略带悬疑，边看边猜直到答案揭晓

推荐影片5："The life of David Gale" released in 2003

Starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet

是部老戏骨佳作

电影的中文名是《大卫戈尔的一生》：乍一看真是个平淡的名字

但是紧凑的剧情着实与名字不符

When anti-death-penalty activist David Gale is convicted and condemned to death for the murder of a colleague, reporter Bitsey Bloom sets out to learn the story behind Gale's crime. What she finds challenges her belief in Gale's guilt and, finally, in the justice system.

anti-death-penalty activist：反对死刑的激进分子，这是大卫戈尔的身份，但就这个身份他遭遇了什么？凯特温斯莱特在影片中饰演了一名想要查明真相的记者

真相是什么？真相重要吗？

V老师喜欢的台词，是关于拉康哲学的演绎：

电影中文名《猫鼠游戏》，IMDb评分 8.1

单从名字就能看出挑衅：catch me if you can

斯皮尔伯格导演的片子，片中的小李子真是年轻的能掐出水来

V老师喜欢的台词：

Two little mice fell in a bucket of cream. The first mouse quickly gave up and drowned. The second mouse, wouldn't quit. He struggled so hard that eventually he churned that cream into butter and crawled out. Gentlemen, as of this moment, I am that second mouse.

能把牛奶搅成黄油，这简直就是"never give up"活生生的事例

最后这两部，都和平权有关

推荐影片7：Green book released in 2018

这部去年大热的《绿皮书》可谓奥斯卡大赢家，用“平权”的主题打了一手好牌。改编自真人真事的故事，沿着时间线缓缓铺开，看似绝不会相交的两条人生主线汇聚在一次南部巡演的路上。

A working-class Italian-American bouncer becomes the driver of an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South.

bouncer：俱乐部或酒店的保安；pianist：钢琴演奏家；影片开头颇有黑帮气氛，但后面竟然还有泪点

V老师在看这部片子的时候，好几次被震撼到；“种族歧视”这个概念太抽象，但是当我看到贵为上宾的黑人钢琴家却不被允许使用“白人洗手间”的时候，才体会到“colored”这个标签恐怖的意义。

这段台词，来自于黑人钢琴家的自白：

Yes, I live in a castle, Tony! Alone. And rich white people pay me to play piano for them because it makes them feel cultured. But as soon as I step off that stage, I go right back to being just another nigger to them. Because that is their true culture. And I suffer that slight alone, because I'm not accepted by my own people 'cause I'm not like them, either. So, if I'm not black enough and if I'm not white enough and if I'm not man enough, then tell me, Tony, what am I?

这是个困境，一个不被认同的有色人种的困境。。。

关于这部电影的幕后故事有很多，有一个很值得玩味：是说两个人的后人都说电影改得太扯了，真实情况是他俩就是雇主与雇员，哪来的情比金坚？

怎么说呢，作为观众我们更期待被感动，于是就自动忽略了平凡~

最后一步，依旧关于平权，只是这次变成了黑人女性

推荐影片8：Hidden figures released in 2016

这也是一部改编自真实故事的影片，背景是美苏冷战和太空竞赛时期，一支由非裔美国数学家组成的运算小组逆风成长

The story of a team of female African-American mathematicians who served a vital role in NASA during the early years of the U.S. space program.

剧中的黑人女性，都受过良好的教育，还有人自幼就数学天赋过人；但在NASA她们的办公区和白人分离，卫生间分离，连咖啡壶都被分离

下面这段台词，是女主受够了歧视后的呐喊

There are no colored bathrooms in this building, or any building outside the West Campus, which is half a mile away. Did you know that? I have to walk to Timbuktu just to relieve myself! And I can't use one of the handy bikes. Picture that, Mr. Harrisson. My uniform, skirt below the knees and my heels. And simple necklace pearls. Well, I don't own pearls. Lord knows you don't pay the colored enough to afford pearls! And I work like a dog day and night, living on coffee from a pot none of you want to touch! So, excuse me if I have to go to the restroom a few times a day.

colored bathroom:有色人种卫生间；女主作为运算高手暂时服务于白人运算小组，但却不得不每天穿梭于东西两翼，回到黑人运算组去上“有色人种卫生间”，当被质疑旷工出去散步时，她爆发了，这是个泪点爆棚的场景。

顺便一提，这里一直压制女主的白人上司，是“谢耳朵”演的呢
