Louis received his BFA in industrial design from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015 and soon after transitioned to painting professionally. His style is inspired by the Vienna Secessionists, specifically Egon Schiele. Interested in the materiality of paint, the artist frequently builds up layers on his canvas only to scrape pigment away to create uneven surfaces. Louis captures the essence of his sitters in his atmospheric portraits, revealing their quiet strength as well as their physical beauty.
