首先请看一个句子：

My books that a short time ago had seemed so tire－some，so heavy to carry，now seemed to me like old friends．其中so heavy to carry的意思是“拿起来那么重”，不定式tocarry的主动语态用在形容词heavy后面作状语，它的逻辑主语是my

books，books和carry之间实质上是被动关系。其句型为：

主语＋系动词＋adj．＋infinitive（主动语态）。类似这种貌似主动实为被动的系表结构很多，又如以下一些例子：

He is hard to please．

The Pacific Ocean is impossible to swim across．

The picture is pleasant to look at．

The sofa is comfortable to sit on．

This tool is useful to use．

The water is fit to drink．

The book is interesting to read．

The questions are difficult to answer．

Fire is dangerous to play with．

This sentence is not very easy to understand．

The apple is nice to eat．

The meeting is important to attend．

以上例句中都用了能带主动语态的不定式来表达被动意思的形容词，这些形容词常见的有：heavy，hard，impossible，pleasant，comfortable，useful，fit，interesting，difficult，dan－gerous，easy，nice，important，bitter，light，expensive等。为了帮助记忆，把上述词的首字母取来组合在一起成为Hipcufi－denible，发它的谐音，即“黑皮客友飞抵尼泊尔”。通过这种联想，可以轻而易举地将这类常用词记牢，以避免在这类形容词后误用动词不定式的被动语态。
