4. Good Manners 良好的举止  What are good manners? Good manners are learning the right things to do and say at the right times. If you have good manners, you will have more fun when you are with people. This is true whether you are at school or going out to meals or on board of a vehicle with some of the crowd. 什么是良好的举止？良好的举止就是知道如何做正确的事和在适当的时间发表言论。如果你有良好的举止，你和别人相处时就会更加愉快，不管你是在学校还是在外面吃饭或者与一些人挤在某一交通工具内，这个定义都是不变的。  Good manners make a big difference in your social life. Manners are important for both men and women, and are very practical. Sometimes manners can count（显重要，有价值） more than anything else in the first impression you make. They help you to make new friends and to get along with people. Good manners, such as the sense of humor, a nice smile, a cheerful “hello/hi” or a short “thank you” reveal（显示，展现） your good breeding（教养） and help clear up （消除）misunderstandings.  良好的举止使你的社会生活大不相同。礼貌对于男人女人来说都很重要，而且很实用。有时，在形成你给别人的第一印象方面，礼貌比其他事情更重要。它能帮助你结交新的朋友并和他们相处融洽。良好的举止，比如幽默感、令人愉快的微笑、一声爽快的招呼或者一句短短的“谢谢”能展现你良好的教养，帮助你消除误会。  You will not get along very far without good manners because good manners are willingly accepted and appreciated by the public, while bad manners are disliked everywhere. 没有良好的举止，你将不会有好的交际，因为公众愿意接受和欣赏良好的举止，而不雅的举止在哪里都不爱欢迎。  Good manners are not learned overnight（一下子）. They need constant development. You should always observe and learn good manners from other people in various situations. What’s more, you must also practice good manners yourself and keep at it until they become a part of you.
