范文： The closer communication between different countries has been an accelerating trend in recent years, both in economic and cultural aspects. Some people doubt the intimate connection will cause a country’sidentities to vanish. In my view, the effects of international interactiondepend on the situation in different nations.
The international contact is definitely a mutual benefit for countries. Being economically motivated, both states and entrepreneurs are interested not only in the domestic market but also in the oversea market. The closer connection affords tremendous opportunities for businesses and corporations. Besides, cultural exchange would be conducive to embracing different values, which will promote the multi-cultural understanding and even remove cultural barriers.
However, the cross-national interaction will also impose a negative influence on national identities,especially for those weak countries such as those of the Pacific Island and some mini countries in Europe and Africa. It seems that the locals in those weak countries have become more familiar with exotic cultures, which reflects the foreign cultural invasion to some degree. For instance, the main stream value of teenagers in these countries has been mainly shaped by Hollywood blockbusters instead of their traditional literature or other artistic works.
In my opinion, whether closer global communication will give rise to the demise of national identities relieson different countries. Countries like America, Canada and Australia are marked by their high population mobility. The culture in these nations relies heavily on other cultures indeed. Therefore, they are more than willing to welcome cultural exchanges. Other countries such as China, India and Britain have their own unique ethnic identity and cultural confidence stemming from their long history. Global contact will be acceptable to them, too. Only to the weak countries, the local government should take steps to protect their vulnerable cultures.
In conclusion, merits and demerits of global communication coexist. Whether the outcome of closer contact is positive or negative depends on different countries.
