高考英语满分作文遣词造句系列（第55期）

Bear in mind that we must guard against overeating.
记住，我们一定要警惕暴饮暴食。

注释：

1. guard against 表示“避免，预防”，类似意思的表达法还有“be alert to sth/ prevent from doing sth”。guard against 后面加名词或动词的-ing形式。

If you guard against something, you are careful to prevent it from happening, or to avoid being affected by it.

2. bear sth in mind 表示“记住某事／把某事记在心上”。

If you bear sth in your mind, you try to remember it or have it in mind.

上文中的从句相对于主句过长，这时把“bear in mind　that...”放在句首，后面引导从句，可以避免从句过长导致“头重脚轻”的不和谐现象。

Each of us read the book in turn.
我们每个人轮流读书。

注释：

1. in turn 表示“轮流，依次”，近义词有“in proper order/ in sequence”

If a group of people do something in turn, it means they do it one by one.

2. turn的意思很多，作为名词使用时，大部分人比较熟悉的是“转弯”的意思。在今天的词组里，它是“轮／顺序”的意思。

Turn refers to the activity of doing something in an agreed succession; 尤指在游戏中，人们照着既定的顺序完成某项活动。

3. 虽然上文的翻译没有体现出时态，但是我们还是应该培养对时态的敏感性。

这句话一定是过去时，因为each of us＝every one of us，强调每一个人，因此谓语动词应该是单数，但是例句中并没有写“reads”；另外一方面，read的过去式还是“read（注意发音不同）”，所以这句话只有可能是过去时。

注释：

1. keep pace with 表示“并驾齐驱，保持同步”。 
近义词组：“catch up with（赶上）”，反义词组“fall behind（掉队）”

2. 除了字面的意思之外，我们还能得到引申意：跟上某人的（思想、学习进度、工作等）。

She did not bother to keep up with the news. 
这里的keep up 就是“紧跟时代，了解实事”的意思。

该项目即将完成。

注释：

1. just about 表示“几乎，差不多”，同“almost”。主要有两层意思

1.1 (of actions or states) slightly short of or not quite accomplished
行为／状态：差一点点就要完成
同义词： about, almost, nearly...

1.2 (of quantities) imprecise but fairly close to correct
数量：不够精确，但是误差很小
同义词： approximately, about, close to, more or less...

2. 我们来看三组常见的将来时句型：

2.1 be to do：侧重个人意志、计划和安排
I'm to meet him tomorrow.（含双方事先约好的意思）

2.2 be going to：侧重于打算和想法，与第一种差别不大

2.3 be about to：表示在最近的将来“刚要／正打算做某事”。
（注意后面不能接表示将来的时间状语。）

注释：

我们来看一下“learn”和与它相关的词组：

1. 作及物动词时

1.1 学习；学会 
My brother is learning English now. 我的弟弟正在学英语。 

1.2 认识到
He has learned that dishonesty does not pay. 他已经认识到不诚实是没有好报的。

1.3 记住 （learn by heart）
The boy soon learned the poem by heart. 这男孩不久便能熟背这首诗了。

1.4 得知，获悉
We learnt the news this morning. 我们今天早晨得悉这一消息。

2. 作不及物动词时 

2.1 learn from 学习／吸取
Why don't you learn from my mistakes? 你为何不从我的错误中吸取教训呢？

2.2 learn of/about 得知，获悉 
We learned of his marriage in the newspapers. 我们从报上获悉他结婚了。

2.3 learn about 学到（知识等）；了解
He read a lot so as to learn about the intellectual history of Europe. 他大量阅读以便了解欧洲思想史。
