不知道大家是不是都有这种困惑，当外行人（甚至航运从业者，但非做干散货的）问起来“你是做什么的”的时候，宝宝的内心其实是无比崩溃的，因为这个实在是太难讲明白了……
外行：你要跟着船跑吗？我：…… 稍微沾边的：你是货代？我：…… 做贸易的：你会做单证吗？我：…… 做物流的：货代那些你会做吗？我：…… 那我究竟是做什么的啊？？？！！！ 首先要定义一下什么叫“干散货”、“dry bulk”。 Dry bulk是这样定义的：A commodity which is shipped in large, unpackaged amounts. There are many transport companies that specialize in dry bulk delivery. Some examples of dry bulk commodities include coal, ore and grain.
接着，我们看什么叫“操作”、“调度”、“Operations”。本质来说这三个名字都做同样的工作，就像“奶酪”、“芝士”和“cheese”一样。主要职责是负责租船合同订立之前的准备工作和租船合同订立之后的执行工作。（此时问什么是租船合同的，请自行拖走赏一仗红）下面是常见的船公司招人时候的Job Description：
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
· Responsible for daily operations of the fleet and be able to maximize profits through managing the end-to-end operations of voyage and time chartered vessels efficiently and effectively. · Setup, maintain and manage all department/fleet operational records, files and databases. · Process and ensure compliance with Charter Party (CP) requirements and company procedures as well as all relevant operational information between fleet vessels, brokers, charterers and agents. · Monitor and record all details of voyage performance including off-hire, stoppages and delays into the Vessel Voyage Performance report. · Proactively plan and manage to optimize voyages in terms of route planning, weather routing, cargo stowage planning, bunker planning and appointment of port agents. Provide voyage and time charter instructions to Masters and convey expectations and then follow up to monitor compliance. · Negotiate claims and respond promptly and effectively and take a proactive approach in solving problems. · Assist and liaise with Chartering team concerning any vessel information requirements, questionnaires, certification and scheduling as part of all pre and post fixture support. Coordinate all operations involvement in commercial pre-fixture & post-fixture support. · Analyze vessel voyage performance to highlight any under performance, downtime or any other operational issues to the manager. · Coordinate release of bills of lading, re-documentation and switching of bills. Manage letter of indemnities, cargo certifications and condition surveys. · Liaise with the fleet and manning teams on vessel movements and scheduling. · Check load port and discharge port planning and discuss with Manager on compliance with Load port/ discharge port requirements and monitor hold cleanliness requirements. · Arrange all routine invoicing and funding for voyage costs, including agency appointments, tugs, non-compulsory pilotage and surveyors’ attendance.
上述大致涵盖了日常操作需要做的事情，但是决不仅限于此！在日常操作中总会遇到各式各样的问题，所处的位置不同，处理的方式也会不一样（船东操作会维护船东利益，租家操作会维护租家利益），但是大体方向就是按照Charter party来，除非对方找了我方租船的同事要改CP clause那就另说了。
