I will buy some clothes for me, 也可以说:I will buy some clothing for me.“衣服”、“服装”常混用,clothes,clothing情亦然。 语法规定上,clothes的谓语动词永远是复数,clothing则不能说a clothing或some clothings,却可以说some clothing,如非要用a或s,则换成dress,见下面的dress一 词。 用clothes和clothing来表达一件衣服或服装,通常说a piece of clothes/clothing,anarticle of clothes/clothing dress:1)专指“女装”,这是clothes/clothing所不具备的词义; 2)指“服装”,这时可以和clothing互换,但在语法上却比clothing灵活的多,既可以说a dress, 也可以说two dresses The dress/clothing of ancient Chinese was colorful. get your full dress for the dinner/party/show tonight,赴宴着正装, go tothe meeting/church in a black dress此时用clothing表达则有不妥。 business attire/dress,职业装。
