◆here & there adv. Look, here comes the teacher! There she goes! My friend here saw it happen. I live in that house there. It’s very cold in here. He lives somewhere near there. 注:here 和 there 放在介词后作宾语的用法是有限制的,一般只能放在 from, in, near, over, out of, round, through, down, around等之后,而不能随意与其它介词连用。 I’ve never been to here (there). (应去掉 to) 4. 如: Here’s your books. There’s twenty minutes before the train leaves. Here, let me try it. There, there! Stop crying. ◆history n 1. 如: History repeats itself. People make their own history. The English language has an interesting history. China is a country with a long history. 2. 下列说法通常不用冠词: ancient history(古代史),modern history(近代史),world history(世界史),Chinese history(中国史) 但下列说法要用定冠词(注意其后有 of 短语):the history of China(中国史),the history of the English language (英语的历史) 类似地,以下情况由于其含义较为抽象,history 前通常也不用冠词:the science of history(史学),conception of history(历史观),the tide of history(历史的潮流),the makers of history (历史的创造者) ◆holiday n. 1. Friday is a holiday in Muslim countries. New Year’s Day is a holiday for everyone. He took (a) ten days’ holiday. Where are you going for your holiday(s)? They’re on holiday in France. / They are in France on holiday. We’re touring Italy on our holiday. 表示后者可以用: a holiday of three days / three days’ holiday / a three-day holiday。
