撰文：Jason Wayne 所属专栏：研之成理写作实验室 前言： 此前，我们也曾分享过一些文献中的经典句型，很多朋友觉得非常实用。这里，需要特别指出一点注意的地方，并不是高分论文中的句子就一定是好句子，在使用和学习的时候要有批判精神，取其精华，去其糟粕。今天，跟大家来剖析一下SCI论文写作中一个比较常见的错误。例句来自一篇群友分享的Adv. Mater. 论文： It is important to recognize that the composition and morphology of the material grown is not simply a function of the gas mixture and plasma conditions, but also depends sensitively on the pretreatment of the substrate prior to growth, as well as the substrate temperature. 下面留了一段空白，给诸位同样的时间来细读这个句子。 2、赏析 简单说吧，我认为这个句子有问题。 这个句子本来是想用一个平行结构的，not simply（only） XXX, but also XXX，用这种形式来倍增单个句子信息容量是很有效的，但执行上似乎出了点儿混乱。 乱在哪儿呢？句子结构平行的不够严谨，或者严厉点儿说，根本就不平行。 合理的平行表达有两种：
例如， I sent a copy not only to my supervisor but also to the head of the division.
例如，The officers' colleagues on the state police force not only respected (动词1) the men professionally but regarded（动词2） them as friends. 而这个经典例句则是 It is important to recognize that the composition and morphology of the material grown（A）is not simply a function of the gas mixture and plasma conditions, （B）but also depends sensitively on the pretreatment of the substrate prior to growth, as well as the substrate temperature. （C） 简化之，A is not simply B，but also depends on C 编造一个有实际内容的例句则可以是 The composition is not simply complex, but also depends on temperature. 拿掉冗长的成分，这个句子的问题似乎凸显一些了。 你可以说The composition not simply is complex，but also depends on temperature. 其中，前半部分的is和后半部分的depends作为两个动词，共用一个主语the composition，没问题。 或者，The composition is not simply complex，but also dependent on temperature. 这样的话，两个平行结构不含有自治的动词，而只作为共同主谓语the composition is的平行表语，也没问题。 但两个表达混着用，就是问题。 3、解 当然，有人会说，指出这么一个偶然出现的问题对很多人写作的提高并无多大意义。 没错，虽然错误最容易让人获得提高，但一个错误大全并不能让人学习的效率更高。 这里写这篇稿子的目的不是为了挑刺儿，而是提请大家注意两点：
